Travis Taylor

In a never-ending search to bring honest ideas and fresh sounds to the worship music forum, Travis Taylor writes music that is heartfelt, and continually stretching the boundaries and limitations of worship music. Drawing from influences of all types, old and new, Christian and secular, Travis is able to craft lyrics that are original and inventive, yet all the while familiar to the soul of a worshipper. Taking the lead from the British worship movement of years gone by and running with it, his music is melodic and reverent without losing the ability to grip your heart and force it to pay attention to the beauty and mystery of our Heavenly Father. Born and raised in Houston, TX, a state that is itself a patchwork of musical styles and influence, Travis was introduced to music at a very early age. He spent his formative years playing in bands with his brothers, their talents constantly fostered and encouraged by their parents who were musicians as well. Moving off to north Texas to attend Midwestern State University, Travis found himself involved in several ministries. Feeding a desire for more of God, Travis constantly played at different college groups, bible studies, retreats, and organized worship concerts that united youth and young adults of all different churches and denominations. Eventually, this led to the recording of his first full-length album Some Will Rise. With a fresh album in hand, he put together the band Tenthousand Flying, and began to play across the state. The word began to spread, until the band was playing all across Texas and the southeast. Some Will Rise turned out to be a notable independent success. After three years of touring as a band, numerous EP releases, and one more full-length album, Come Again, God began to move the pieces of the band in different directions. Always working in ways that we cannot always perceive, this is where God opened the door to his current position as Modern Worship Leader at Calvary Church of Pacific Palisades. Travis has surrounded himself with incredible musicians, who have a heart for the Lord. Although he plays primarily in Los Angeles, California, Travis will be touring extensively to support his latest release You Have Loved. Currently Travis is leading worship on a weekly basis in a small community in Los Angeles, and continues to write and record songs for worship as well as songs about the everyday. He is a husband of five years, and a father of two. Today there is maturity to his music that has come about only with the experience of life. Week after week this community of artists share their talents with each other in a musical creation that is alive and stirring. Read more on Last.fm.
