Darren Gibson

Darren Gibson is a Melbourne based songwriter. He spent his formative musical years playing guitar in melodic hardcore band Away From Now and singing in rock act Lead Sketch Union and filling in for a variety of acts including Mid Youth Crisis. In 2008 he teamed up with pals Donnie Dureau and Jamie Hay for a collaborative release and busking tour titled, Tyre Swans. In 2010 Gibson’s second release came in the form of a split EP with US songwriter Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music. Through intimate shows Gibson has fast attracted a loyal following around the country. He has also shared the stage with the likes of Tom Gabel, Tim Barry, Chuck Ragan, Ben Nichols, Frank Turner and Dave Hause. In 2012, following the release of his debut LP Cross Town Motions, Gibson is set to kick off the year with a massive Australian tour in support of renowned roots artist Xavier Rudd. The tour will see Gibson perform songs from Cross Town Motions, as well as favourites from his previous two releases in all major capital cities in Australia, throughout March and April.
