We’re The Sort. We are one girl and four boys who love making and playing music more than just about anything. Three of us strum, one us hits things, and two of us make sounds with our vocal chords. One of us does two of those things. We are not The Beatles. We are not Pantera. Some of us like those bands. Some of us only like one of those bands. We do not take our shirts off on-stage because one of us would get arrested, and because we are usually wearing our favorite shirts. We are too busy playing rock music to strip. We do not point at people in the crowd at shows or make excessive hand gestures to complement our lyrics. We know that you can only understand about 10% of the lyrics at a rock show, so we won’t pretend that a loud bar is the place for story time. Our singer will not swing the microphone around by the cable, but she will shake her hair around. Our drummer will not uses brushes, mallets, or any other wussy items that may stifle the rock. We are not putting together an acoustic set any time in the near future, and you should bring earplugs to every show. We are having a very hard time selecting a cover tune that anyone will know. This is not because we are indie snobs. We aren’t. It is because all of us have fallen in love with a wide variety of songs that we feel weren’t loved as much as they should have been. We appreciate the value of a great guitar solo, and there is nothing snobby about a guitar solo. We are cute and cuddly, but we can’t promise that we won’t bring our bad hair days on stage. In fact, we usually do. We currently do not have any songs that require hand-claps from the audience, so as not to psychologically trick you into loving our songs. We hope that you might love them on their own merit if you enjoy rock music. If your regular gig is reggae, we understand that you might not like us, not because reggae is bad or the wrong choice, but because our music and reggae have few parallels. Bottom line, we love to play music, and we’d love to see you at a show. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
