Spindel started as a duo, with two hardangerfiddle-players Sigrid Moldestad and Liv Merete Kroken. They met as fiddlers-students at the Ole Bull Academy, Voss in 1996 and has worked together since. In 2001 they released their first album "Spindel" and invited the three musicians; Ivar Kolve ( Percussion), Olav Tveitane (guitar/cister/double-bass) and Dagfinn Andersen ( harmonium and piano) to some of their songs. They are now regular members in Spindel and join in at concerts. Sigrid and Liv Merete perform both as a duo and with band. The music is based on the traditional music from western part of Norway, but Spindel also writes new songs and stories.. Spindel came with it´s second album "Aminje" in 2005. Sigrid Moldestad and Liv Merete Kroken are known for their musical companionship and spirit together as they play.
