Rob Nichols

(Taken from programme notes for Industry Showcase, Snooty Fox, Wakefield, December 2003) Whilst his name and talent are well recognised, his persona remains a mystery. Rob wants only to be recognised through his words and music, his means of expression. In the current 'pop idol' culture Rob can truly be described as an enigma. In an industry where many are trying to fabricate 'different', Rob simply is. Thus his stage show is not only different but unpredictably so; even he doesn't always know where it's going. After three albums and countless stage perfotmances Rob is still on a mission to share his music with anybody prepared to listen. He has no pretensions and is as happy performing to the proverbial one man and his dog as he is to a huge audience, provided that he is listened to and feels that feedback. Country Rock? Blues Rock? Country-Blues Rock? Dylanesque? Grant Lee Philips? Early Bowie? Ray Davies? Rob can't answer that, he's just himself. Only those fortunate enough to see him live can respond to that question and even then it may not be the answer. Read more on Last.fm.
