“A Greek and Jamaican fusion bursting with ideas” is how Lauren describes herself and after meeting her, I think all would be inclined to agree. “I had planned to become a midwife but I just couldn’t imagine myself doing anything other than music so I plucked up the courage to break the news to my parents who luckily supported me all the way!” Starting her musical studies aged 10, Lauren quickly realized that her flare for music was more than just a hobby. After training with classical sensation Katherine Jenkins and achieving a distinction in her grade 8 Musical Theatre exam, she went on to achieve a merit on the higher diploma at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in 2009. Since then, as well as earning herself a place on the ICMP's degree course, Lauren has secured respectable session work, including recording and performing live backing vocals for Saint Saviour, who fronted Groove Armada and most recently an Island records signed artist. Lauren has performed a number of times in Proud 2 at the O2 and was selected to support Average White Band at Club 606 in Chelsea at a Shure sponsored event. Recently however, Lauren’s passion for songwriting has led her to form a band and begin writing and recording her first original tracks. Coming from a varied background, she has elements of the mum she describes as “a mad greek woman” and her laid back Jamaican father which shows through the music she writes. If you are lucky enough to attend one of Lauren’s gigs, she will take you through a roller coaster of emotions, starting in Latin America and ending in the 1940‘s! Read more on Last.fm.
