Kyra represents many artists: 1) Kyra. Kyra are a four-piece rock band from the Lake District, and These Precious Things is the bands new EP. Recorded in October 2009 at Long Wave Studio, Cardiff, the EP was produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Funeral For a Friend, The Blackout, Kids In Glass Houses). These Precious Things is a painfully passionate look at love, loss, trust, and hope. Fueled by the heart felt lyrics and the distorted assault of guitars there is nothing comfortable or mundane about These Precious Things. Picture the ferocity of Refused, the unharnessed emotion of GlassJaw and the pop sensibilities of Taking Back Sunday and you get close to what Kyra is all about. After years of tight-knit friendship and playing music, Kyra are ready to establish themselves as one of the most promising unsigned bands in the UK. With years of shows under their belt sharing the stage with bands such as Young Guns & My Passion (at the warm up shows for the Kerrang! Tour 2010), The Ghost of a Thousand, Failsafe, and Fei Comodo. Kyra have consistently turned heads with their energetic and enthralling live show. Their on-stage presence and enthusiasm have earned them praise from fans and piers alike and have definitely made them a band to watch out for. These Precious Things received many positive reviews from music press both online and in magazines including a review from Darren Taylor, Rock Sound Magazine - "It's all about location, location, location. If Kyra were from Wales they'd probably be signed up to a record deal by now". The EP also caught the attention of BBC Radio Lancashire and after many weeks of Kyra’s tracks being played on the show, Kyra were invited into the studio for a live BBC introducing session. Future Plans: Kyra have recently shot their first music video for the track These Precious Things with the production company Sitcom Soldiers (Young Guns, Deaf Havana, Fight Star, Futures), the band is currently in talks with PR companies in preparation for it's release. Since stepping into the spotlight at the age of 16, Kyra has rapidly evolved into one of the UK’s hottest singing sensations and is without doubt the voice of a new generation. Vocally influenced by the likes of Randy Crawford and inspired by 80’s acts such as Kraftwerk and the Eurythmics, Kyra’s unique sound is “ElectroSoul”, a blend of heartwarming soul with a modern exciting twist. Her debut album, which is currently under construction, will reflect this sound as it toys with the forgotten sound of the synthesizer and revisits the feel of those timeless 80s classics we all still love. Kyra first showcased her amazing voice in 2006 on the sultry RNB ballad “Tick Tock”. Through the circulation of just a few copies it was declared song of the week on Kiss FM and also frequently rotated on both Radio 1Xtra and Choice FM. The immediate impact of this record led to Radio DJs championing the Kyra sound. Radio One’s Ras Kwame was one such person and this prompted his invitation to perform in front of a live studio audience at the station’s annual RNB Sensations in 2006, the same platform that elevated Corrine Bailey Rae. More recently Kyra has been chosen to perform alongside some of the UK’s crème de la crème at the prestigious BBC Electric Proms. It was this opportunity that brought her music to the ears of the legendary Alexander O’Neil. So impressed was he with her refreshing style that he began to work with her immediately and they have now finished the first single from his eagerly awaited new album. This promises to be a very exciting year for Kyra; she will be supporting Alexander on tour and also hopes to put the finishing touches to her debut project. So far we have only had a taste of what is to come, but as we wait in anticipation for more there is no doubt that this young lady is one to watch! 5) Kyra is a post-hardcore band from the UK Read more on Last.fm.
