Poney has been together for about eight years. There have been a few rearrangements. We are currently comprised of: Ben Brooks on drum set and vocals, Pat Kohlbeck on auxiliary percussion, Brad Beilke on guitar and vocals, Tyler Spatz on bass and vocals, and Josh Stanchik on guitar. We released an EP on our own in 2005, and a full length called "2010-2015: The Explosion Years" in late 2007 (in conjunction with Round 13 Records.) In early 2010 we released a full length, "Seamyth." It is a companion to Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," and is available at http://www.poney.bandcamp.com./ The Seamyth tour took place in the early spring of 2011, and took the band across the U.S. The "Octavious/Melt Trip" cassette single was released along with a cassette reissue of the first two albums alongside an August 2012 Northeastern tour. The single was reissued with Minnesconsin Records on 7" in October 2012. "Rorschach" was recorded by Ryan Rusch at Weight Room Studios in Washburn, WI, and mixed by Adam Tucker at Signaturetone Studios in Minneapolis, MN. “Rorschach” is Poney’s fourth album, and it marks genre shattering changes in the band’s sound and style. Encompassing the psychedelic hardcore rush of their previous albums, and drawing on melodies and hooks in the vein of BARONESS, CAVE IN, TORCHE, and MASTODON, this new full length is also a work of passion and commitment. The writing and production of “Rorschach” happened during times of great upheaval for Poney, and the final product is a fusion of extreme ups and downs, valleys of doubt and mountains of noise. 2013 Minnesconsin Records.
