Instrumentalist, composer, arranger and producer, Celso Fonseca was born November 15, 1956 in Rio de Janeiro and did start to play his first guitar chords at age 12. Fonseca openly confessed that it was Baden Powell’s music that led him to play. At age 19 he quit the journalist classes at university, decided to study music seriously, took up the guitarrist career and joined Gilberto Gil’s band. Celso has played as a sideman and recorded with the greatest artists from Brazilian Music,such as: Milton Nascimento, Djavan, Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Chico Buarque de Holanda, Marisa Monte, Bebel Gilberto, João Bosco, Jorge Ben jor, Elza Soares, Adriana Calcanhotto, Virginia Rodrigues, Vinicius Cantuaria, among many others.
