Tamy's music is Bossa Nova with a 21st Century twist. Hailing from Vitoria, Brazil, the singer/songwriter mixes MPB (Musica Popular Brasileira) with electronic beats, croons to the swing of Rio's famous samba-funk and sings softly alongside Afro-Brazilian grooves. Add to the mix her melodic vocal arrangements and a danceable beat and you have something everyone can appreciate. The single 'Tudo Bem', from her debut album 'Soul Mais Bossa', has been praised in the UK by the likes of Ninja Tune, Mr.Sruff and Hint. Says Mr. Scruff: "Wriggly!! 'Tudo Bem' is top tune, is fantastic. It's got that great manic Latin vibe, but keeps it controlled enough to walk alongside more restrained dance floor tunes." The music video to her single 'Sossego' (Quiteness) made MTV Brazil's most-played list. In the meantime, her second single 'Nao e Mole Nao' made the Universo Hip Hop compilation CD, and got good airplay on national radio station Transamerica in Brazil. In July 2004, the singer played before 1.200 people at The Forum in London for the release of her debut album Soul Mais Bossa. She also played at the International Woman's Day show in Sao Paulo. The event was a tribute to late Brazilian singer Cássia Eller, and Cássia's original band was there, performing alongside Tamy. In July 2003, Tamy and producer Maga Bo recorded the 12" 'Tanto Faz'. The single sold 1,500 copies on its first month alone and was acclaimed by DJs and producers wordwide. The track was also picked up by MTV UK for its compilation Mono MTV and have been played on Gilles Peterson Worldwide program on BBC1 radio. Meanwhile new signed DJ/Producers Axl & FAB aka R.U.A have delivered the remixes of 'O DOM' and 'Gozar', which were included on the Japanese Edition of her CD. Quality electronic dance music!! ☺ During February 2005 Tamy's music was heard at Brazil's biggest weekly news and variety TV show 'FANTASTICO' and made the now legendary youth TV program by 'HULK', both on GLOBO TV NETWORKS, the largest in the country. July 05 and August 05, Soul Mais Bossa held simultaneously top positions at both of the official HMV Japan 'Brazilian best sellers and Bossa Nova charts' at number 3 and 4 respectively.
