Their name is the spanish word for Capsule and derives from the David Bowie song Space Oddity Influenced as much by 60's South American psychedelic rock, as by garage, new wave & electronica, they have released 3 albums in their native country, played festivals, toured UK, Europe and South America They have played at SXSW 2008 & 2009. Described as live animals on stage by the press their mix of raw noise with sonic sounds results in a excitig live act. They recorded their fourth album, titled "Songs & Circuits", released in 2006 by Madrid-based indie label Discos Liliput. A review of Capsula album “Songs & Circuits” described them as “Garage rock for the 21st Century” with reminiscent of The Stooges, The Velvet Underground and the early The Rolling Stones. In 2007 and 2008, Capsula have toured USA, UK, Canada, Europe & Southamerica receiveng rave reviews of their live gigs. In October 2008 Capsula signed with BCore Disc, releasing 'Rising Mountains' in April 2009. The album 'Rising Mountains' and Capsula show in SXSW 2009 were choosen by David Fricke as one of the best surprises of the festival. He wrote in his column Fricke's Picks for the Rolling Stone Magazine in April 2009: 'It was only 9 p.m. on opening night when I hit my first pay dirt of this year’s SXSW in Austin: Capsula a kinetic trio from Bilbao, Spain — singer-guitarist Martin Guevara and bassist Coni Duchess, the band’s founding couple, are originally from Argentina — who were supposed to be obsessed with the Velvet Underground (according to a newspaper preview) but were actually a high-velocity union of the Cramps and the Who, coated in corroded glam. Guevara attacked his guitar with a serious case of Pete Townshend, and drummer Alberto Diez was an improbable mix of Keith Moon and the Velvets’ Maureen Tucker: flash with heartbeat. In the last song of the set, a furious space-out that sounded like the Who doing Pink Floyd’s “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun,” Guevara swallowed his mike Lux Interior-style and scraped his guitar strings along the edge of the stage. You don’t get those visuals with Capsula’s new album, Rising Mountains (BCore), but you get the idea — and everything I heard.' David Fricke. Fricke's Picks. (Rolling Stone) In July 2009 Capsula have recorded a new album 'The Naked Flame' collaborating with New York rock legend Ivan Julian (Richard Hell & The Voidoids), released in Spain, France and Portugal by Bloody Hotsak. 2. Capsula is Yosi Shamay, born in 1978 and living in Kfar Saba, Israel. Yosi began his music production with the age of 16 (1995) using Scream Tracker 3 followed by Impulse Tracker . Back than he produced mainly goa-trance, influenced by the Goa-Vibes series (Trust In Trance). After upgrading his software and equipment he played around with different styles like breakbeat, drum & bass, house and more. (He never released anything from it ... although he made a lot of tracks). After a lot of mind opening travels in the world and the trance culture (for about a year and a half: Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, India, most of Europe…) he decided to do a degree in chemistry . He studied Chemistry (B.A) and Biophysics in BGU University between 2002-2005 and in that time he started producing psychedelic chill out. His main influence come from gurus like : Terence & Dennis McKenna, Alan Watts, Carlos Castaneda, Jonathan Ott and David Icke. Yosi samples lots of their inspiring speeches in his music. His main interest is creating music which induces the exploration of the inner dimensions and their dreamy landscapes. Capsula is the gateway to that path. Read more on Last.fm.
