Vigri is a new band in the ever growing music scene in [placefrom]Reykjavík, Iceland[/placefrom] and has already been hailed as a promising group. They play melodic songs with roots both in classical and pop music. The members of Vigri; Hans, Bjarki, Atli, Egill and Þórir are all multi instrumentalists and often switch instruments within songs during live performances. They have received praise and attention for the music video to their song "Sleep", which has been nominated at various international film festivals. It can be viewed on their website www.vigri.co.uk. The making of their debut album Pink Boats, which was made available in late May 2011, began in Flatey island in Breiðafjörður bay, Iceland. The initial plan was to record the album over a one month period but soon the project began to expand. Still, most of the album was recorded on and old laptop with only one microphone. Recordings were made in Esjustofa restaurant at the roots of Esja mountain, in various churches around Iceland including the Hallgrímskirkja church in the center of Reykjavík, a retirement home, a marching band's rehersal space, studio Reflex and various bedrooms around Reykjavík.
