Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start

Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start, Up Up Down Down for short(er), were mainly a studio project headed by Steve Poponi, co-owner of recording studio, The Gradwell House in Southern New Jersey. They play a slightly technical, interesting, lyrically straightforward and just awesome nerd/math indie rock, in easier terms unclassifiable with obvious influences. The band is a collaboration of members from other bands and usually remains interchanging. They are based in Haddon Heights, New Jersey, United States and formed sometime in 2003. Their name comes from a game cheat called the 'Konami Code', this code unlocks secret levels and secret weapons in certain video games made by the Japanese video game company Konami, mostly for the NES. A variation of this code, Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A B A Select Start, unlocked 30 lives in the Konami game Contra in two-player mode on NES. The group disbanded on August 16th, 2008, after playing a final show at the Audubon Auction House. Read more on Last.fm.
