http://www.facebook.com/thesilencebroken The Silence Broken was founded in May of 2006 in Rochester, NY; they derived their band name from a reference to the popular video game, Silent Hill 2. After putting together their first set, the band played it's first show in 2007 with Eulogy Recording artist, Fjord. Continuing to play shows around the Rochester area, the band settled in with producer Steve Veremeychik at Corruption Studios to begin work on their debut release. During the recording process, guitarist David Joksimovic parted ways with the band, and John Jones came aboard in his place. As the finishing touches were being made to the album in December of 2008, creative differences led to a separation between singer Matt Askins and the remaining members. The band continued to write and practice while searching for a new vocalist. In October of 2009, former WithoutJade singer, Nik Humphreys auditioned with the band and immediately landed the position. The group continued onward with it's new line-up. In September of 2011, the band's debut full-length album, "In Search of Hope" released across iTunes, Amazon and several other internet-based stores. The album featured heavy-hitting singles, "My Widow" and "Poor Carmine" (written about the unfortunate demise of the character from the hit video game, Gears of War). 2012 saw the addition of second guitarist, Derek Lockwood added to the groups ranks. Throughout 2013, the band direct supported national acts like Mushroomhead, 40 Below Summer, The Bunny The Bear and Smile Empty Soul. After some time off, the band headed to World of Noise Recording Studios in Buffalo, NY under the supervision of producer and engineer, Nick Borgosz to be begin work on their sophomore effort, which is currently untitled. During their time recording, the band announced long-time drummer, Justin Webb and guitarist, Derek Lockwood would be departing the band in January of 2014. After several weeks, the members announced it would be continuing as a five-piece and introduced new-comer, Michael Barnes (also formerly of WithoutJade) on drums. The band continues it's work on finishing up the upcoming sophomore release, due September 2014.
