The McFlys, originally a two-member studio project, have recently resurfaced as a four-piece pop-punk act from the Port Huron, Michigan area. Original members Dale VanThomme and Tommy Herrmann, of the now defunct The Running Gags (1996 - 1999), decided to change the bands course and combine their songwriting abilities in efforts to find their common musical ground. Resulting from this collaboration was The McFlys, a name borrowed from the hit movie series, Back to the Future. During the fall of 2001, The McFlys recorded their first demo in a university recording studio. Due to school and other limitations, The McFlys were unable to practice and perform live as a full band at the time. Regardless, they continued to build and improve upon their lineup of songs. Inspired by various pop-punk bands such as the Ramones, Huntingtons and Teenage Bottlerocket, The McFlys deliver a high-energy set of rock n roll and an avid dedication to a now waning musical genre. Their style is loud, fast and technically precise. Lyrical content typically ranges from sappy teenage love and rejection to zombie girlfriends to undercover spies. With few songs pushing the two-minute mark, The McFlys belt out a live set of 15+ songs in barely 20 minutes. Great Scott! Read more on Last.fm.
