Store Bought Cool

Based in Melbourne, Australia. http://storeboughtcool.com. Store Bought Cool are a five piece from Melbourne's inner north. Their unique mash of influences from garage punk to antifolk, indie to swamp, twee to dark melodramatic pop, started drawing attention in 2011 as their first single “The Wild” began getting airplay locally on RRR, PBS and SYN90.7 and later on 4ZZZ, 2SER and across Australia. Store Bought Cool quickly gathered a reputation for their original sound and high energy shows. "A striking set filled with beautiful imperfection; raw and creative in the best possible ways... some very, very original music... creepy yet hypnotising... Definitely a band I’d love to see again in the future." - http://www.theaureview.com/melbourne/francolin-store-bought-cool-the-evelyn-2282011 "Intriguing and impressive...a striking set filled with beautiful imperfection; raw and creative in the best possible ways...very, very original music...Definitely a band I’d love to see again in the future" - The [AU]Review "Raw and impassioned anti-folk" – The Age "...now and again something comes up that takes me by surprise, its fresh, original and very good or just sounds like someone else i like. With Store Bought Cool, it was a bit of both. It does help that i like the whole lo-fi, anti-folk scene because comparisons with Jeffery Lewis, Adam Green and the like come flooding into my brain but Dave L Dreimann brings an Australian, angry wit to the music, which sets him apart from his other contempories. It is really DIY and sometimes sounds very raw but when he gets it right, it comes off with charm, humour and most importantly fun." - http://loadsafun.blogspot.com/ Read more on Last.fm.
