There are two performers called Richard Sanderson. One is a pop singer and composer popular in Europe, the other is an experimental musician based in London. 1. Richard Sanderson (born 5 March 1953, Taplow) is a British singer. He was born in England, with a scottish father playing drums and a french mother playing the accordion. Sanderson began playing piano from age five and picked up guitar at age 15. He is best known for his song "Reality", which was the title theme to the soundtrack to the 1980 film La Boum. The song became a hit in Europe in 1982, reaching #1 in 15 countries, including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and selling more than eight million copies worldwide. Despite his success in continental Europe, Sanderson is virtually unknown in the United Kingdom. 2. Richard Sanderson (born 7th October 1960, Saltburn) is a British experimental musician, improviser and songwriter based in London He has recorded with the groups Ticklish, Minnow and with experimental musicians such as Mark Spybey and Steve Beresford. His background was as a member of punk and post-punk groups in Teesside such as Solaris, Drop, Tick Tick and The Euphoria Case, before coming to London in 1985 and immersing himself in the experimental/improvised music scene. He currently performs solo gigs with melodeon with amplification, very occasionally as guitarist/vocalist in a re-activated Drop, and in the experimental folk duo Foulkestone with Jude Cowan. He is also active in the London traditional music scene and is a member of Blackheath Morris Men and the Mixed Porter Ceilidh Band. His two most recent releases are "Improvisations for Melodeon" and "Steady States". He runs the netlabel "Linear Obsessional" His website is http://richardsanderson.weebly.com Read more on Last.fm.
