Red Car Wire

After forming in early 2007 RCW (a 3 piece band) starting making a small buzz with catchy songs and hyper live shows. "We were all teenagers and the band was our outlet from everything, Josh was still in high school so that took up a lot of time but we knew his heart was in it" -Evan. The band landed some spots on the Vans Warped Tour and released a 'Self Titled' 5 song EP [produced by Geoff Rockwell]. After a little radio play from 102.1 The Edge the band started to see the beginning of an amazing fan base. "We have the coolest fans in the world, they're just down to earth people who really support us, it means a lot when we look out [off stage] and everyone's singing our lyrics" -Josh. So at this point the band is doing better than ever. Everyone's happy. Except... they all felt like their 30-45 minutes with fans a night wasn't enough! The idea of a second guitar player got thrown around as a way for all of the band to focus and connect with fans a little better. After talking to several people RCW went with the first person they auditioned. Garett Bouline. So now Red Car Wire was a four piece. Evan Lester, Josh Cutlip, David Hoogerwerf and Garett Bouline. People seemed eager to meet and learn about Garett. It was a smooth transition for the better. "Garett's a super nice person, I people would accept him quickly." -David Soon after Garett joined, Red Car Wire was about to release their second EP, "Let's Never Get Older." Still produced by their go-to guy Geoff Rockwell, the sophomore album is sightly more mature (with songs about love, break ups, the band and growing up). "I wrote these songs after moving out and doing a little growing up, but some of the songs, like Affinity, I wrote when i was 16." -Evan. Universal/Motown caught wind of the Texas rock band and liked the raw songs and saw potential in them. Signing the band pushed back the CD's release date to October. Fans were excited and eager to get their hands on the disc. Immediately after signing, like literally days, the boys jumped onto Warped Tour '08. "The shows were some of the best we've ever played, but we had to tour in Evan's '98 Ford Expedition, it was so miserable!" -Josh. The band fell in love with touring. "Seeing fans everyday and playing shows night is what we were born to do." -Josh. And its a good thing because the boys toured all the way into 2009. At this point it was time to start thinking about their NEXT record. "I had been writing a lot while on the road. The life experiences I've had in the last couple of years have cause me to grow up so much. I think our newer songs are a reflection of that. I'm so passionate about these songs, I've never had my heart in music like this before." -Evan. Unfortunately, David wasn't ready to develop the bands former sound. "We sat down and talked things over and decided it would be best for Dave if he found a band that he felt like HIS heart was in. And as much as it hurt us all to see him go, we respect his decision and completely support him. We're still friends, there wasn't a fight or a falling out, he just wasn't happy with where we were going with the music. That's totally respectable." -Evan. Garett, after hearing David's decision, started rethinking his own life and is considering going to college. He's not sure what he wants to do, he's just not sure this is what he wants right now. He does, however, like the new music more than ANYTHING prior that RCW has created. So... What can we tell you about the new record? And the Live Show? And replacing David and Garett? The new record doesn't have a name yet. But i guess its 'theme' is recovery. There are still some love songs, a break up song, and some new instruments. As far as the live show goes, we're VERY excited to play some new songs! And we're working very hard to make our live show an intense 30-45 minutes that will draw people in. Connecting with fans is the MOST important thing to us. As far as replacing Dave and Garett,we wish them both the best of luck with where ever life takes them. We've auditioned some new people and things will be for the better. Red Car Wire is just beginning. Read more on Last.fm.
