Nina Badrić (born on July 4, 1972 in Zagreb) is a Croatian Pop, R&B and Soul singer. Before starting her career in the entertainment industry she used to be a bank teller. She began performing in early 1990s, exploiting the sudden popularity of dance music, but her repertoire gradually became more mainstream. She is very popular in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia and Turkey. Nina Badrić finally represent Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan, with her entry "Nebo", after competed in "Dora" - Croatian selection for Eurovision Song Contest, for 4 times. She won 7th place in 1993 with "Ostavljam te", 10th place in 1994 with "Godine nestvarne", 18th place in 1995 with "Odlaziš zauvijek", and almost won in 2003 with "Čarobno jutro", being a runner-up to Claudia Beni with "Više nisam tvoja". Nina starred in popular Croatian television show Mjenjačnica, where she swapped for a day with a zoo animal guard. She started singing when she was only nine in children’s choir Zvjezdice. With that choir she travelled around the world, recorded several albums and gained a huge experience in choir, solo and gospel singing. At the age of twenty she signs her first contract with Rajko Dujmić and Jasenko Houra, goes to first Crovision and wins the eighth place with the song "Ostavljam te". Two years later, and having recorded one album "Godine nestvarne", she starts her collaboration with Zoran Škugor and goes to London to record her second album Personality. That was the best selling album in 1997 and 1998. She won two Porin awards, Rose of Vecernji list and many other awards. Her version of "I’m So Excited" from that album reaped her success in European countries. She was number one on pop charts. For five months she reigned over charts in Italy, Spain and France which makes her the only Croatian female singer who had international success. She performed with world famous artists, including East 17 and Jocelyn Brown. Her third album Unique sells all over former Yugoslavia, so Nina tours Bosnia and Herzegovina and ends her tour in sold out Skenderija in Sarajevo. That year she was the most popular Croatian singer in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Songs Poljubi me,Nek’ ti bude kao meni from her next album Nina became songs of the year. Her 6th album Ljubav won 5 Porin Awards (out of 5 nominations) including: album of the year, song of the year (Čarobno Jutro) & female artist of the year.
