Mohamed Ag Itlal was born about 1960 in Tessalit in northern Mali. It was in the 1990s in one of the training camps of Gaddafi in Libya that he met other members of the group. He is a poet renowned throughout the Tuareg community as well as a guitarist and composer with an incisive and precise style. He participated in the 2001 recording of the album "The Radio Tisdas Sessions". In 2007 he contributed two pieces to the album "Aman Iman", "Ahimana", which means "O my soul" and "Awa Didjen", which means "What happened?". This suggests a lack of water in Tuareg but also the situation of language Tamashek, which was ridiculed and ignored by the government. He is also found in a solo session recorded in December 2003 on an album by a group of Kidal, Etran, where we find another member of Tinariwen, Abdallah ag Lamidi. Mohamed Ag Itlal does not tour. However, in the film "Teshumara, the guitars of the Tuareg rebellion" he expresses his intention to promote the music of ishumar and Tuareg culture. Read more on Last.fm.
