Mizgina Sor

The Kurdish band "Mízgîna Sor" ('Red Surprise') was founded in 1993 at the Culture and Art Center "Arya" in Izmir, Turkey, to show the musical culture mosaic of the Turkish state. They produced songs in Kurdish, Armenian and Turkish. In late 1994, the Culture and Art Center was closed by the Turkish authorities. Due to their musical activities, the band members were pursued, arrested and sentenced to several years imprisonment. Today the band members live as refugees in Switzerland and other Western European countries where they continue their musical activities.
