Mickey Nightrain

Dj, live musician, record label owner, andgenuine lover of music in it’s simplest essence.Known also as Maximus for his productions on thelegendary Frankie Bones’ labels, Marty Petzabecame known as Mickey Nightrain in ‘03 andsince then has been been quite busy and for goodreason. His 2005 "The Path" and 2007 originaltracks “Crossover”, Meno Mosso” and “TheContender” brought his sound to internationalaudiences while scoring high on the sales charts. He not only produces tracks but is able to playthem LIVE through his p.a. setup of harwarekeyboards, samplers and drum machines makinghim one of very few in the business. On top of thathe’s a true mixologist juggling beats, basslinesand vocals to make truly unique and randomrealtime edits with his records. The Nightrainsound is a mashup of funky bass heavy house, techno and breakbeats which look to the futurebut never forget the past mixed in fast and furiouspace to keep his captives on the floor for hours. No stranger to the media, Petza was recentlyinterviewed on CBS News Miami and hascelebrated his debut mix album release on the 29year old’s Nightrain Music imprint which is aboutto celebrate it’s 100th release before the end ofthe year in less than two years of opening shop.Needless to say he is constantly either working onhis own productions or consumed by label duties, all while performing 3-4 nights a week in citiesacross the US and soon the world for his ‘09 tour. The more interesting story starts in the summer of1995 in an abandoned south east Baltimorewarehouse. After a brief Introduction to hardcoretechno, Petza felt that it was finally a music thathe could understand and he wanted more. A fiendfor mixtapes and weekend raves, Marty hadbecome a non-dj music guru, screaming out thename of the tune just by the first 32 count of therecord. In 1996 he decided to try his hand at amix just out of benign curiosity, failing miserablyat first but this intrigued him and so it was. DjMaximus was born and he eventually got his firstclub residency at Baltimore’s famous Club 1722back at the turn of the century. The years inbetween today and then have been quite a ridefor the now Miami resident and there is no end insight for his rise to popularity. The future looks verybright for this hard working music enthusiast and ifyou catch a gig from him you’ll know what thehype is all about. Read more on Last.fm.
