Man The Mighty

Man The Mighty is an American hard rock band from Chicago suburb Carpentersville, IL. It was formed by lead guitarist Tim Tournier and vocalist Derek Smith. A deeply-rooted friendship between two musicians with a common vision created the bond that this band and its music would be built upon. Despite a number of lineup changes throughout the early years, Man The Mighty continued to write music and find their sound. Through much perseverance, they have now found the necessary members to complete the equation with bassist Tyler Nelson and drummer Matt Harmening in 2006. With this addition, the now-complete four piece would be ready to begin a new chapter for this long-standing name. The group immediately began work on what would become their first demo, featuring the song “Sick”. Entitled Beneath the Skin, this collection of songs featured everything from solid vocals to searing guitar solos, and was the first true glimpse of what this band was capable of. From there, the band proceeded to take their sound on the road, playing all over Country on tour with such as Creed, Alter Bridge, Sevendust, Tremonti, Theory of a Deadman, 3 Doors Down, Chevelle and Staind. From there, the band began work on their first full length record where they simultaneously began collaborating with Fret12 Records in Chicago. Working with renowned producers Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Alter Bridge, Chevelle) and Johnny K (Disturbed, Staind), the band completed their record in 2011 entitled I Am Icarus. This record will feature a new version of their fan-favorite “Sick”, as well as other catchy songs such as “Ghosts”, “Over You”, and the title track “I Am Icarus”. I Am Icarus features a wide variety of sounds, and seeks to please fans of many different kinds of music. It features the same (yet more evolved) signature voice that has made Derek Smith a recognizable voice in rock music, even more blistering guitar solos that will keep 6 string fans happy, and a strong rhythm section to back it all up.
