Venice Sunlight is a four-piece alt-rock outfit from Philadelphia, PA originally founded in late 2006. The band released two demos, 2008's "The Recycler Sessions" and 2009's "The Capricorn Sessions", and gigged steadily on those releases throughout the Northeast Corridor region. By September 2009, the band's current lineup emerged: Jayson Verdibello (vocals, rhythm guitar); Dave Cohen (lead guitar, vocals); Steve Krostyne (bass guitar, vocals); Alex Brown (drums, percussion). At this point, the band began to scrap its existing repertoire and take on a more straight-ahead alt-rock and classic rock style, eschewing their earlier pop-punk sound. In December 2010, the band released its debut EP, Vs. the Rabid Rabbits, to a sold-out crowd at PYT in Philadelphia. Co-produced by John Faye of IKE and Jonathan Low, the band's popularity exploded regionally on the strength of the EP, its first single, Annabel and the group's notoriously raucous live performances, traditionally kicked off with a round of Jack Daniels shots. A 7" entitled Vs. the Sophomore Slump was released in April 2012. The band continues to gig steadily across the region, and has plans to start work on a full-length release in the near future.
