Maceman is a Canadian singer-songwriter and musician, born November 9, 1970 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. He grew up in Hamilton, Ontario where he presently resides with his wife and three children. “As far back as I can remember, music was in my blood,” says Maceman. Maceman bought his first guitar by pawning the violin he received in his elementary school music class. His talents emerged almost explosively. Self-taught on the guitar, he wrote many songs before discovering the piano as the centerpiece of his music. He is also proficient at bass and harmonica and has the amazing ability to learn any instrument necessary to express his thoughts. Although primary a Folk-Rock music artist, Maceman explains, “I love all kinds of music. … I like to focus on the different instruments, and how the songs are mixed.” Maceman has a distinctive vocal style characterized by his soft, air-like delivery and use of multi-tracking to create vocal harmonies. Innovation and creation are words that describe Maceman’s writing style. Influenced by artists such as Cat Stevens, Ron Sexsmith and The Beatles, Maceman’s lyrics are eternally poetic containing deep-lying spiritual messages expressing his thoughts and feelings. This reflects his spiritual side and strong faith in God. The emotion he pours into each and every song is born from experience and pain. Maceman plays with a wealth of musicians worldwide via the internet and has frequented the top 20 on Soundclick for the last 2 years as well as many other online forums and venues. Through the years Maceman has frequented the local music scene. He has been involved in various benefit concerts and folk festivals raising money for the less fortunate. He has performed with several known bands and continues to surround himself with talented artists. The motivation behind Maceman’s efforts is his desire for continuous improvement. Maceman is starting to see the result of hard and persistent work. “I’ve always known that my music could be enjoyed, but I just wasn’t sure how to deliver it,” he remarks. “The internet makes the goal obtainable”.
