Lili Boniche

Lili Boniche (b. 1921 in Algiers, d. March 6, 2008 in Paris) is one of the most famous singers of modern popular Arabo-Andalucian music. A star in Algeria in the 1950s, he emigrated to France when his country became independent. He was largely forgotten until the 1990s when he made a comeback with a series of CD releases (Alger Alger, Trésors de la chanson judéo-arabe, Œuvres récentes), a live recording, and a album of remixes by Bill Laswell.
