KSM was an all-female American pop rock band from Los Angeles, California formed in 2006, consisting of Shelby Cobra (lead vocals), Katie Cecil (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Shae Padilla (lead guitar), Sophia Melon (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Kate Cabebe (drums). Sophia officialy left the group in April 20th, 2010 to go to college. On August 2nd, 2010, KSM announced on their Facebook and MySpace pages that they decided to disband and go on their own separate ways. The band’s five members were all raised in different places before meeting and starting the band in 2006. Kate Cabebe was born and raised in Camarillo, California and began taking an interest in music as a child by taking lessons in the violin and mandolin. Cabebe began playing the drums by age 13. Katie Cecil, from North Carolina, started her venture off by acting in various roles on stage, television and film. Shelby Cobra, from Santa Clarita, California, started in music by auditioning and performing in musical theater at a young age. She began studying voice and performance at the age of 12. Sophia Melon was raised and took lesson to learn to play the bass guitar. Shae Padilla, who was raised in Lancaster, California, started playing and performing music at a young age when her brother took lessons to play the drums so he could accompany her. The band formed in 2006 as an originally pop group. They got its start due to the band The Go-Go's taking an interest in wanting to mentor a “new all-girl teen rock band.” The band started off with four members and when they soon decided to move to a rock genre, fifth member Shelby Cobra joined the band. KSM guest starred as Vagablond in the Take180 original series I <3 Vampires on September 11, 2009 and performed their song "Read Between The Lines" to promote their album with the same name. The band worked with Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil on their debut album. The album is set to be released on Sept 22nd and Sept 15th on iTunes only. The band finished out a tour to promote their music as a special guest on select dates of Demi Lovato's Summer Tour 2009, then, a few months later, already in 2010, it was announced on their Facebook and MySpace pages that it was the end of the group.
