James Alger

One Drop's reggae crooner frontman continues to soothe us with his clever-soulful vocals and catchy melodies. With seductive basslines, dramatic organ tones and both traditional and pop rock beats, this solo project is packed & polished with all things fantastic. Music was always a necessary soundtrack and sometimes pacifier to the life experiences of James Alger. Though introduced to music at an early age by his parents it wasn’t until he graduated from San Diego State University that he began to explore and develop his music interests and skills. Upon graduation, he enrolled in Mesa College’s music program and took courses in theory, classical guitar and recording arts. It was through his class work curriculum where his songwriting skills began to take shape….and people began to listen. In 2006, James Alger founded One Drop and began gigging aggressively performing material that had been written and tucked away years prior. With a lot of hard work, dedication and a little luck One Drop has spread like a wildfire. Since then the band has released 2 albums (a 3rd one in the making) and heavily toured the U.S., at times playing support for artists such as Collie Buddz, Steel Pulse, Slightly Stoopid, Rebelution, The Bravery, Eek A Mouse, Ben Harper and more. Currently, One Drop continues to climb recording and radio charts internationally.. Over the past several years James has continued to challenge himself as a songwriter, singer, guitarist and person. Life continues to bring many blessings & occasional tragedy and his music is a vivid documentary of these events. He is brutally honest with words and soulful delivery in songs of social unjust, heartbreaks and flirty romance to borderline love addiction. “I wanna make you shake your back side, smile and provoke your emotions” This solo project, featuring several guests’ musicians including members of One Drop, embarks a new era for James with a personal canvas to creatively experiment without re-rooting the foundation that has led to great success and the cultivation of a large supportive fan base. “You Could Be The One’ is a CD (EP) that strategically combines old and new. Some songs have a classic roots sound with an emphasis in natural instruments and use of vintage equipment while other songs are decorated with “dirty guitars” and “electronic candy”, pushing reggae music to the future.
