NEGUS NAGAST YELIDJOSH (Venezuela) - (English version) - An unusual trip to Jamaica changed the life of some Venezuelan young students with passion to play some more than just music. The need of share a consciousness message and an important and ancient African culture without roots in Venezuela was the reason of the Negus Nagast Yelidjosh.. “The reggae band who reborn the powerful, emotionality and spirituality of reggae music in Venezuela”, says Billy Mystic, leader of Jamaican reggae band, “Mystic Revealers”. Negus Nagast Yelidjosh means the sons of The King of Kings in Amharic. The band members are musicians and professional workers from Caracas. The Negus aim is to share the message of Rasta roots: Selassie’s footsteps, love, peace, conscience, unity and hopes, behind the most Irie and sensual music of the Caribbean: Reggae music! Negus born in july, 23 of 1999, in the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), when was playing for the first time in the 107º anniversary of the birthday of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I. Negus had been awaking conscience and sharing Rasta vibes with nuffs ruff riddims of his “Rastafari Fi Salvation” album, the first independent production recorded and mixed in Caracas in the middle of 2002. The album had a lot of acceptance and sold more than 5.000 copies, just in the little market of reggae in Venezuela. With the special featuring of legendary Grammy winner Michael Rose (Original Black Uhuru) in “Politrikal Game” and the master of reggae and Rasta, Cedric “IM” Brooks in “Babylonian dream”. The “Fi Salvation Tour” began with a very emotional showcase with the blessed from the Jamaican band The Mystic Revealers, who was the godfathers of the album. The tour goes around all country; include the Venezuelan Caribbean island called “Margarita Island”. The international tour was in company of Argentinean singer “Pablo Molina”, ex member of the famous reggae band “Lumumba”, the tour began in L.A, San Diego, Santa Monica till went to Tijuana in Mexico. After that, Negus visit Honduras in Central America to make a concert for 10.000 people in San Pedro Sula wih many radio and TV promotion. Negus Nagast had been working with many reggae artists as a backing band, the reggae winner Michael Rose, Junior P, Johnny Dread, Fidel Nadal and Pablo Molina from Argentina or Quique Neira from Chile is example of dis roots and wicked band. Right now, Negus is already to mash up the world with his second independent album “I-n-I ProJAH”. The first double album in the Venezuelan reggae music history was recorded between Jamaica and Venezuela and mixed in Anchor Studios in Kingston, mastering in Lion and Fox Studios in Washington. The goal of I-n-I ProJAH is the roots reggae vibes can you feel between Rasta lyrics and nuff conscience message, some of dem in Spanish other in English and the featuring of 20 venezuelan reggae artists in 20 versions of the “Negus Riddim” recorded by Sly Dunbar, Skyjuice, Bassie and Wright Move. The “Negus Riddim” will be one of the must important and unity project behind the music in Venezuela, the must easy and powerful way to meet with Jah vibes.
