Jacob Gade (November 29, 1879–February 20, 1963) was a Danish violinist and composer, mostly of orchestral popular music. Today he is remembered for a single tune, the familiar Tango Tzigane Jalousie, also known as Tango Jalousie[1], or simply Jalousie, premiered September 14, 1925. The tango was an instant international hit, was featured in over 100 films, and the royalties allowed Gade to devote himself to composition fulltime for the rest of his life. The royalties now fund a foundation for young musicians. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
