Jackeline Victoria "Jackie" Castro (born July 21, 1995 in Dallas, Texas) is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She is the younger sister of former American Idol season 7 finalist and Atlantic Records recording artist Jason Castro and singer-songwriter and former Idol contestant of both season 8 and season 9, Michael Castro. Castro was born the youngest child in her family to Colombian-born parents René and Betsy in Dallas. Her two older brothers, Jason and Michael, are both singer-songwriters as well as their father. Castro is also the only female born in her family. She was raised in both Rowlett and Rockwall, Texas and attended school at Heritage Christian Academy, a private Christian school located in Rockwall before pursuing a career in music and acting. Castro considers herself a Christian and occasionally attends Lake Pointe Church, also located in Rockwall. Castro occasionally performs at the church. Her older brother, Jason, was a former American Idol finalist for season 7 and Michael auditioned once for season 8, but did not make it past the voting rounds. Prior to Jason's Idol stint in 2007, she made guest vocals with him on the song, "Someday", a pre-Idol song her brother had written. She has also performed numerous times with her brother before his appearance on Idol. Castro is currently working with her brother on his upcoming major label debut since his signing with Atlantic Records, providing background vocals for him. Before pursuing a career of her own, Castro was well known by Jason's fans as a correspondent on various message boards, most notably her brother's official message board. She was given her own thread titled "Jackie's Corner", sharing topics about herself, her closest friends and her family. She created a YouTube account in 2008 while her brother was on the Idol tour, posting videos with one her close friends, Alyssa Mount. She also used the account to post homemade family videos. In 2009, Castro then began pursuing a career of her own, traveling back and forth from Los Angeles to Texas. Her brother Michael, co-wrote a song titled "Live the Song", which Castro recorded and put up as a sample on her MySpace. One of her close friends, Rachel McMillan, an aspiring guitarist, did guitar work on the song. As of yet, Castro has not appeared in any feature films or television shows, but has auditioned for projects and has taken acting classes. On her Youtube account, two videos have Castro singing an untitled acoustic song she had written a year ago her close friends from home and another one of her and McMillan covering "Catch Me" by Demi Lovato. Castro performed the duet "You Can Always Come Home" with her brother Jason (a song originally sung by him and Serena Ryder) at the Texas State Fair in Ryder's place in the fall of 2009. She traveled to Ghana in July of 2009 with 24 other missionaries in Africa on a mission trip to try to convert members of the Dagomba tribe to Christianity. In 2011, she released the single "Rescue the Perishing", a song she wrote to help earn money for her second mission trip to Ghana. During that same year, Castro released another song titled "All For You", which she penned in 2010 and released on her YouTube channel. She followed up with "Better Days" in 2012 and "Falling in Love" in 2013. Castro also does covers of other various songs, either solo or with her brothers Jason and Michael. Castro is currently a college student at the University of Texas in Austin. Read more on Last.fm.
