Indie pop group I Kissed Charles is the hottest newcomer of the low lands. These youngsters from nearby Meppel have release their official debut album in 2009. "This Is Not Romantic" is an extremely fresh record filled with compact and catchy indiepop songs. The young band created a contemporary document with a mature sound. The recordings were made in Ireland with Phil Hayes (Bell X1) and in 'Studio Zeezicht' in Spaarnwoude with the renowned Dutch producer Rutger Hoedemaekers.. I Kissed Charles is all about the young but very sexy singer Charlot Henzen, who also plays synths. The band started in 2006 with Charlot and Marco Muhring on drums, soon joined by Joris Taal on bass and guitarist Brian Esselbrugge. In March 2011 Tom Bloembergen joined to replace the previous bass player. Later in 2011 the other bandmembers decided to head in a new direction. In 2012 the band was reformed with new band members. Jeroen van Leeuwen (drums), Sjoerd van Reeuwijk (synths/samples), Franky Hospers (guitar) The band is signed with the Dutch indie label Goomah Music, which will release the debut together with quality labels Excelsior and V2. Chrysalis Music signed a worldwide publishing deal with these youngsters. In the fall of 2009 the band released their new single 'Let's French Tonight''.
