The Mp3-only release, Hipster 60s Rarities and Obscurities, released in 2010, contains 17 culturally diverse psychedelic tracks attributed to The Hippster Trio. The tracks are often different from each other in terms of the language of the vocals, gender of the singer/s,ethnic styles of singing and musical performance, instrumentation and other such matters. Some tracks resemble psychedelic Tropicalia, and are sung in Spanish or Portugeuse, while others sound like authentic Anatolian (Turkish), or Mid-Eastern folk mixed with psychedelic rock from the 60s or 70s. Still others employ the skills of players who appear to be versed in Classical Indian Music and instruments. If there is or was a single musical entity responsible for all of these tracks, they deserve credit as extremelhy well-rounded and competent musicians who were forerunners of modern/electric world music. However, it appears there is no evidence that any such musical entity ever existed, as no search has yet turned up any reference to The Hippster Trio except the aforementioned album. Further, the track titles are all in English while the lyrics and singing are not. The Hippster Trio is, therefore, an enigmatic entity pending further information. However, the music attributed to them may be of interest to collectors of obscure psychedelia and/or world music from the psychedelic era. Read more on Last.fm.
