Guitarist/vocalist John Hunt and drummer Davis Comeau played music together at Fitchburg State College before moving to Austin and formed Fivehead in 1995. After a few lineup changes, Fivehead brought aboard guitarist and sometimes singer Beaty Wilson and bassist Jeff Jones in 1997. Hunt also played bass in Silver Scooter. After a handful of 7" singles, the band's debut "It's not All Good and it's not Right On" was released in 1998. Fivehead eventually established themselves in Austin as one of the premier indie rock bands in Texas in the vein of bands such as Mission of Burma, Guided by Voices, and Pavement. The "Big Mistake Factory EP" was released in 2001 and the band toured around the US several times before recording 2004's full length "Guests of the Nation" in Jones's Porchlight Studio. Hunt moved back to Massachusetts in 2004, and a two year hiatus followed, during which time Comeau focused on his other band The Militant Babies and Wilson formed The Missing Tapes with Silver Scooter drummer Tom Hudson. The band began playing again when Hunt moved back to Texas in mid-2006. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
