There are at least two bands named Deafen, one which is active and another that is not. 1) Deafen is a metal/core/rock band with some punk/hardcore elements, formed in Jyväskylä, Finland in 2004. 2) Deafen was a thrash metal band from Netherlands, which released few demos and an EP. 1) The members of Deafen (from Finland) were only between ages of 10 to 13 when the band was formed. They have played a few dozen live shows and have also recorded many demos during 2005 - 2009, releasing some of them as free digital singles, and only one as a CD: 'Elämänpeli', which was recorded in 2006. Finally in Autumn of 2008 Deafen started recording their first actual release, an EP which would be know as 'Tuli palossa'. Palokka Records, a new indie label, released Tuli palossa on the 5th of January 2009. It is quite different from Deafen's earlier material, revealing a more faster, more metal/core soundscapes and growls/screaming added to the melodic vocals. Later in 2009, Deafen recorded the single 'Riistä' which was released as a digital single by Palokka Records as well as on a compilation album 'Suomigospelin uusi sukupolvi' by Maanalainen levykauppa.
