Caramel Jack is a pop, folk and experimental group based in Brighton, England and built around the songwriting and production team of Richard Scott and Joe Doveton. Most often associated with the Alt.Country / Americana scene their music is really a smorgasboard of styles ranging from Country-Folk to Chamber-Pop to Vaudeville incorporating hip-hop beats, cinematic instrumentals and sound effects along the way. A further testament to the wide diversity of their material is that the track We Could Build Skyscrapers was included on the cover-mount CD issued with November 2009's issue of Classic Rock's PROG Magazine also featuring such unlikely bed-fellows as Transatlantic, Within Temptation and Mostly Autumn among others. With a floating line up of anything up to 13 associate members, Caramel Jack has released five albums on World of Furr Records. The most recent album entitled 1900 was released in 2008 and features cameos from BJ Cole (pedal steel), Ashley Slater (trombone) and Bela Emerson (cello). The previous albums are Songs From Low Story, Seven Brides For Caramel Jack, Everybody Get Shot and The Curse Of Caramel Jack. Caramel Jack has achieved great critical acclaim in publications like Q Magazine, Uncut and The Independent. The current nucleus of band consists of Joe Doveton, Richard Scott, Michael Eyers and Simon Gunningham and work is underway on their next album. www.carameljack.com. Read more on Last.fm.
