Archetribe (pronounced like 'archetype', but with a 'tribe' on the end) is the name of the musical collaborative run by Matthew G. Davidson (Escape Philosophy, Blue Forest Mass). Tracks are composed, then sent out to friends for overdubs, and then returned to Matthew where they are reassembled and coaxed into their final form. Musicians include: Matthew Davidson, Jamal Mohamed, Ken Field (Birdsongs of the Mesozoic), Dave DeMarco (Battery Apple), Larry Fast (Synergy, Peter Gabriel), Gunnard Doboze (September Tapes), Billy Miller, Phillip Lampe (Spiral 7) and Grant Smith (Spiral 7). Archetribe's first release, 'Earthtones', borrowed heavily from the sound of Peter Gabriel's 'Passion' soundtrack, both in atmosphere and due to the sound of the duduk played by Gunnard. 'Waterworks', Archetribe's second release. built on this sound, but relaxed and stretched out a bit, drawing on the core talents of the contributors. Read more on Last.fm.
