From an early age he showed a keen interest in writing and playing music. At 2 years old he began playing the violin and then as a teenager took up the piano, and later the guitar. In 1992 he graduated from the University of Ottawa with a BA in Music, and promptly formed a rock band. As is so often the case this project didn't materialize and Dave was forced to look for a "real" job. Working with adults and children with developmental delays Dave saw the opportunity to combine his love of music with his passion for helping others, and went back to school to get a music therapy degree. During the course of music therapy studies Dave developed an interest in individual/family/marital counselling and, upon graduating in 1996 with a music therapy degree, went right back to school for psychology. By 2000 Dave had received his Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, and has worked in the field for the last decade as a child protection worker, a children's mental health counsellor, a marriage and family counsellor, and a coordinator of adult mental health services in a hospital setting. Despite enjoying all of his professional experiences Dave could not shake his passion for creating music. Over the years he has quietly written, and recorded solo piano music and singer/songwriter style compositions but was too distracted by life's many responsibilities to do anything with them. Maybe it was turning 40, but for whatever reason, Dave recently decided the time had come! And the result is his first solo piano album "About Time". These deeply personal songs were written over the course of 25 years and represent the events and emotions that have made Dave who he is. Recording and releasing the album was accomplished solely to achieve a lifelong goal Dave had set for himself, but as the positive feedback for the album has built Dave's goals for himself have changed. With praise from new age music icons and leaders in the solo piano genre he is setting his sites higher than ever before. With a new-found enthusiasm Dave is approaching a number of new music projects so stay tuned! Read more on Last.fm.
