Amauta was a fusion, instrumental, Andean folk collective from Quito, Ecuador, formed by Chilean resident Pedro Pino D'Achiardi (guitar, charango, recorder), Tomás Lefever (piano), Fernando Albornoz (western concert flute), Ángel Cobo (guitar, electric bass), Galo Larrea (lead guitar), Felipe Albornoz (drums) from 1978 to 1980, as a means to mix Ecuadorian Andean folk music with some progressive rock leanings. No official releases were put out at the time; only a digital compilation of studio and live recordings remains, put together by a Chilean blog that specialises in culling obscure music from Latin America, "En busca del tiempo perdido". http://rockchilelatinoamerica.blogspot.com/2008/03/amauta-amauta-1979-1980-ecuador.html http://musicaarteytodolodemas.blogspot.com/ Read more on Last.fm.
