Hailing from the town of Novi, Michigan, Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) is a small indie band heavily influenced by mid- to late 90's bands like American Football and Mineral. Empire! originated in 2006 as the solo project of Keith Latinen, who wrote, performed, and recorded all instruments on their debut EP, "When The Sea Became A Giant," which was released in early 2007. (Keith's wife, Cathy, made a special appearance on the song "K.O.K.O. (the Most of My Worries Are the Least of Your Concerns")) Despite being released independently, the album has received reviews from websites such as Absolutepunk.net, smother.net, soundaslanguage.com, wordpress.com, riseandrevolt.com, and estrellaonline.com. Keith and Cathy soon began recruiting other members to form a full band, and in 2008 released a 7" entitled "Year of the Rabbit" on the band's own Count Your Lucky Stars Records. After several lineup changes, Jon Steinhoff has joined the band as the full-time drummer as of January 2009. There will be several releases within the next year as the band's debut full-length album, "What It Takes to Move Forward" is due out this July, followed by a 7" split with Football Etc, a 10" split with label-mates Castevet, The Reptilian, and Joie De Vivre, and a remixed and remastered re-release/ vinyl-release of their now sold-out EP.
