bow church is a project of many-faced Berlin-based producer David Whiting, started in London in 2012. It began as an experimental and instrumental offshoot of his now-defunct synthpop band HERETICS and soon became well-known amongst the then-burgeoning London witch house scene alongside such artists as Crim3s and Okkvlt Katt with his self-titled debut album. As the scene died out, he moved from London to Stockholm and the music changed too. Sounds that were once boxed-in and threatening became open and expansive. Nature became a big influence and the music broke out of its previous boundaries into ambient, synth wave, industrial and all kinds of other directions. The release of the 2015 album Token marked the end of that period, and later that year he moved once more to Berlin, where he currently resides. Absorbing much more influence from both the experimental electronic and goth scene in Berlin, he has again changed his sound to reflect a new set of influences; from which he has drawn to build his 2018 album Canon.
