KIMITO LOPEZ Born and raised in Oslo, Norway, the trance influences came pretty much naturally with the big wave in 1998. After listening to several tracks, mix compilations and hearing the excitement within the "taboo culture", the selection of a genre wasn't really hard at last. Eventually after spending loads of hours enjoying the music, the next step was to be taken, and a pair of decks landed in the room. And a new local dj was to be found in Oslo. Further time passed and one mix tape after another floating around in Oslo, club promoters gave him a break at smaller venues around the city. Despite that the trance scene was having some tight times. January 2004 better times came along for both trance music and himself, as Trance Department was born. Being one of the masterminds behind the monthly club night that was going to gather the Oslo trance people again, sat his name further on the map. And along came a weekly show at one of Oslo's biggest FM channels, Radio Oslo. During summer 2004, Vascotia (Somatic Sense) decided to team up with the fast growing kid for a remix of no other than Dutch producer/dj Perry O'Neil. The first black plastic to set his name on, and not to be the last. By the end of the year, Trance Department ended up by being nominated as "Club night of the year" by the official night guide in Oslo. As well as playing at different other clubs with big names such as Dj Ton T.B (Black Hole Recordings), 2004 was to judge a pretty nice year for the newcomer, and not least leaving a big door open for 2005. With great expectations for 2005, it didn't start out with any disappointments. After spending more time in the studio with productions, good friend Paul Moelands aka Re:Locate/Octagen wants to team up for a remix for Fundamental Recordings. Remixing one of Israel's hottest artists, A Force wouldn't exactly destroy the start of the year. one week in Holland and the remix was completed. Due to a lot of studio time, DJ-ing wasn't pushed aside at all. Being selected as one of the residents at Intuition Radio ( www.etn.fm ) didn't exactly place him in a bad position either. As the show was re-broadcasted weekly at XFM ( www.xfm.nl ) in Holland. Barely 2 months after the remix was completed yet another plane was to be caught down to the land of windmeels. This time for a gig at famous dutch club ASTA in The Hague ( www.asta.nl ). Playing alongside artists such as Misja Helsloot, Talla 2XLC, Kyau vs Albert, Menno de Jong, Estuera, Leon Bolier, Passiva, Stian Klo and Niklas Harding the Dutch label Intuition Recordings had its baptize in a boiling club on a excellent spring night. 2006 must be the most exciting year for Kimito Lopez as some of his solo productions is really setting the pace around the globe. His side project Xtranova, got picked up by Armin van Buuren and playlisted at A State Of Trance. A week later it was voted Future Favourite by the listeners. German top label Drizzly Recordings picked up the track with a Leon Bolier as massive support for the original. Under the alias Black Plastic a more proggy side of the youngster is beeing showed, and Real Music made sure to pick up the track "Illusions" wich is set for a release later this year. Fundamental Recordings has recently signed a trance bomb from Kimito Lopez, but it won't be until later on this year the record will be revealed and released. So with the rest of the year in front of his feet it won't be the last we see or for that matter hear from this norwegian wizkid! Short Stuff Name: Kim K.
