Will Grove-White & The Others

'Will Grove-White & The Others' is a musical project by Will Grove-White, one of the internationally renowned 'Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain'. Will has been playing in the Ukulele Orchestra since 1989, when he was 16, and in 2008 he wrote and recorded his own album, with the help of some ace musicians. This CD was inspired by artists such as the Mills Brothers, Jim Henson, Louis Jordan, Tom Waits, Paul Spooner and Aretha Franklin. Indeed, it brings to mind the foggy night in Shepherds Bush when Louis Prima and Hoagy Carmichael sang bluegrass harmonies to Sid James. With the Ukulele Orchestra, Will’s singing has been described as: “Worth travelling a thousand miles to hear” - Howard Jacobson (The Independent) “Brilliant” - Miles Kington (The Oldie) "Weird" - Johnnie Walker (BBC Radio 2) As well as Will Grove-White on Vocals and Ukulele, 'The Others' include the wonderful Mr. Ben Castle (OT Records) on Clarinet, Mr. Max de Wardener (Accidental Records) on Double Bass, Mr. Dan Teper on Melodica, Mr. Pat Levett on Cardboard Boxes, and a host of others, including the entire Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (but not playing their Ukuleles). Whether you enjoy the Musical Saw solos, the virtuoso Whistling, or the thumping Tuba basslines, you can be sure to leave contented. In these often bleak and gloomy times, 'Will Grove-White & The Others' offer up a small helping of joy. Grab a plate and tuck in. Read more on Last.fm.
