Underwater Sleeping Society

The Helsinki-based indie rock sextet Underwater Sleeping Society is definitely one of the most interesting bands of the moment and a rare exception in the line of "Post- Radiohead" bands today. The band delivers a perfect mix of orchestral anthems spiced with 2000´s psychedelia. Underwater Sleeping Society ´s new album "The Dead Vegas" is mixed by Kalle Gustafsson Jerneholm (The Soundtrack Of Our Lives), Mattias Nyberg & Hans Olsson and mastered by the "indieguru" Fred Kevorkian (previous works f.ex. The White Stripes, Sonic Youth and The National ´s "Boxer"). To reflect their music, the first pressing of The Dead Vegas album is quite unique. The album is released as a CD-VinylDisc, a double-sided disc with a full-length CD on one side and vinyl on the other featuring a bonus track. "The Dead Vegas is an effective collection of bittersweet indie pop songs, touching on the same indie nerve as UK acts like Editors and Doves with peaks in grandiose 'Counting Stars', semi-psychedelic ballad 'Body Blues' with its spacey chorus and power-pop gem 'Painting The Dead'. -Peter Krogholm ( Allscandinavian.com ) Lineup: Okko Nieminen: vocals, guitar Tomi Tiittanen: guitar Jussi Hietala: bass, backing vocals Matti Olavi Töyli: clarinet, sex, synth/vocoder Sampo Fagerlund: drums Olli Varis: keyboards Discography: The Dead Vegas (2008) All Other Lights Go Out (2007) Lotus-EP (2006) Future On A Plate (2004) 4 Sparrows - EP (2003) Pinetrees - EP (2001) Read more on Last.fm.
