Tron Steffen Westberg plays mainly tunes from the Røros district, focusing more specifically on Brekken, but also enjoys playing Hardanger fiddle music from Setesdal and Telemark. Tron Steffen is the musical director of Brekken Spellmannslag (folk fiddling group), and is a member of the dance group Småviltlaget, which has won first prize at the Norwegian Festival of Old-time Dance Music twice, and the trio Westberg/Haugom/Frostvoll, which has won first prize at the National Contest for Traditional Music a number of times. He was awarded the Saga Prize in 1997, and won the King’s Trophy at the National Contest for Traditional Music in 1999.
