The Young Playthings

There are multiple bands named the Young Playthings. 1) A garage rock revival band consisting of Wendi Jones (guitar), Lura Jones (guitar/vocals); Gabe Lowry (bass guitar); Ari Shine (drums). They put out an LP on Dionysus, entitled "Pick up with the Young Playthings" in 2005 on Dionysus. They've been compared to The Seeds, The Shangri-Las and The Pretenders. 2) The Young Playthings originally formed at university in Canterbury in 2003 but the current line-up of Bateman, Jors Truly and Tibor was formed early 2005. The band were soon noticed by Smalltown America and released released three limited edition CD singles on the label between September 2005 and May 2006, "Love U like That", "She's a Rebel" and "Yr So Fit (For Me)". The band then went on to support The Pipettes on their national dates in July 2006 and followed this with a substantial number of their own shows from August onwards. Debut album Who Invented Love? was recorded with producer Andy Dragazis (Blue States / The Pipettes) and released in May 2007. The band have spent the majority of 2008 working on their second LP, due for release in 2009.
