THE VELVET formed on October 13th of 2002, following the break-up of Velvet Eden that same year. The members MiMi (bass), Bera (guitar), and Lem (drums) acquired a new vocalist, Reina, in order to continue activities as a new band. From October 2002 onward, THE VELVET were very active. They released their first album and maxi-single and had many lives, including one-man lives and band-sponsored events. In December 2004, Reina departed from THE VELVET to start ADOLF; this left THE VELVET with only three official members, the original ones, and MiMi took over Reina's role of vocalist for lives. During this time there was also a live support bassist, Junzo, and the band nicknamed themselves 'THE VELVET STRIPPER'. Between 2005 and 2008, THE VELVET were on hiatus, but this ended on March 5th of 2008, when MiMi, Bera, and Lem (and a support bassist, Chiro) brought a reborn THE VELVET to the music scene. Since then the members have been active with lives and releases, and did not take a downfall when the drummer Lem left in June 2009, instead to be replaced by a live support drummer, Mai. As of 2011, MiMi has announced that while Chiro and Mai will continue to play support for the band, at times the support members will change from live to live. Read more on Last.fm.
