The Tirith - then known as Minas Tirith - was formed by Loughborough Grammar School pupils Tim Cox on guitar and Dick Cory on bass and vocals, alongside Paul Williams on drums. The prog rock group - whose original songs were all based on the Lord of the Rings trilogy - grew a cult following during their heyday from 1970-73, before the group went its separate ways. In 2011, after making contact over the internet, the group started rehearsing again, and have since played support for legendary Dutch rockers Focus, of Hocus Pocus fame, played a series of gigs and at festivals, and released a new EP, Daughter of the Water.
