The Story of Everest

http://www.blonde-records.com/tsoe http://cdbaby.com/cd/storyofeverest THE STORY OF EVEREST - PIGEON SPREE: This Chicago area 6-piece, led by main songwriter Joey Falduto, are correct in their claim that they sound like Pavement and Neutral Milk Hotel. There's that hint of indie casualness in Falduto's voice and a certain loose slackness in the playing - it'll remind you of both. But Pigeon Spree's sound is also strongly rooted in old folk music. Falduto says they're "not a folk band, he just likes folk singers," and the occasional harmonica no doubt confirms his reverence for Bob Dylan. Some songs suggest influences going way back to legendary early country pioneeers Jimmie Rodgers and The Carter Family. Lastly, this appealing, convivial album's immediate production will make you feel like you're on the front porch with the band, whiling away a lazy day. -The Big Takeover Read more on Last.fm.
