The Curse of Sorrow is an up and coming band from Wilkes-Barre, PA, who, unable to clearly fit into any genre, describe their style of music as "grave rock". Drawing on diverse musical backgrounds and influences ranging from the Grateful Dead to the Misfits to Motley Crue, they form a unique sound which varies from haunting melodic rock to screaming metal to rockabilly influenced alternative. Thei r lyrics tend to tell a story, invariably horror themed and touching on the darker side of human nature. Nick Necro, the charismatic front man, loves to involve the crowd in his performance, jumping on bars and shoving his mic in the face of anyone who's singing along. His soulful vocals are backed by a hard hitting and talented lineup of Jay Bones on lead guitar, Mark Massacre on rhythm guitar, Steve Slaughter on bass, and Evil E on drums. Together, their extremely entertaining performances, explosive riffs, and catchy hooks have earned them a legion of loyal fans, dubbed "The Crypt Crew", who can be seen following them all over the region in shirts emblazoned with their trademark skull and shovel logo, screaming along to such favorites as "Diggin’ Up a Date" and "Silence is Golden". Thanks to this support, people voted COS best original band in the northeast PA region in the local entertainment magazine for the past 2 years in a row. Not bad for an act that started casually in late 2006 with Necro and Bones just messing around. When their music surprisingly ended up in a national band battle, they formed a group called Brother, immediately gaining a strong foothold in the local music scene. A name change and many shows later, they are poised to go beyond that. The band has played many different venues all over, opening for such acts as Wednesday 13, Joey Belladonna, Dope, The Ataris, and Gwar, to name a few.Their first album, "Only a Shadow Remains" has sold extremely well and received much critical praise. They are currently touring in support of their sophomore CD 'The Uninvited' Visit www.TheCurseofSorrow.com for more, incl songs and merch! Read more on Last.fm.
